Our story

Those who repair shoes
know how to care for them.

As shoemakers, we know how a shoe is made and what care leather, suede and textiles can take. That is why we clean by hand and only use steam where it is good for the material.

    Schuhmacher Mario

    My father opened his workshop in Basel’s Gellert district – this is where our family story began.

    Trained shoemaker

    I completed my training as a shoemaker.

    I took over the family business. Passo Passo means step by step.

We only use steam on suitable materials. As shoemakers, we decide which method your shoes need, rather than following a fixed routine.

Good to know.

How are my shoes cleaned?

Only by hand, never in a washing machine. We work at a professional steam cleaning station for shoes, with professional brushes and cleaning products that are thorough yet gentle on the material. We choose the method to suit the material of your shoes.

How long does cleaning take?

7 days from when your shoes arrive. If you send them by post, add the shipping time.

Do I need an appointment?

No. You can simply drop by during opening hours. With an appointment, you are guaranteed not to wait.

When do I pay?

In store, only when you pick up: cash, card or TWINT. For post orders, you pay when you order in the online shop, with TWINT or card (Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay).

How much is shipping?

We serve all of Switzerland and Liechtenstein at the same prices. You cover the cost of sending your shoes to us. You can add return shipping directly in the shop.

Will all stains come out?

We get out everything we can. For stubborn stains like oil, ballpoint pen or lipstick, send us one or two photos on WhatsApp first, and we will tell you honestly what is realistic.

Are my shoes photographed?

Yes. When your shoes arrive and before they go back, we photograph them from all sides, so their condition before and after is clearly documented. We show some of these before/after pictures on our social media, of course without any personal details. If you would rather we did not, just let us know.
